Digging shovel ATLAS 1/4 000 hardened, flat step, with ATLAS shovel handle 120 cm bent

Digging shovel ATLAS, Drents model with socket position 1/4 bent and blade size 000, complete with a bent ATLAS shovel handle 120 cm in length, provided with a through-mount T-grip. The lacquered blade is hardened and has a flat bent step. Thanks to the step, footwear is not damaged.

The ASH WOOD ATLAS shovel handle is made from ash wood butt logs, which contain the best timber. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood has been redried in a climate chamber under computer control. This prevents the handle from shrinking, keeps the tool firmly attached to the handle and allows the through-mount T-grip to be pressed onto the handle without glue or staples. ATLAS handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibre in the handle to follow the bend and prevents the grain from running out of the handle. The bending process makes the handle extremely strong. In addition, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba which provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, thereby preventing blisters.

Explanation of socket angle
The socket angle indicates the angle relative to the blade. The higher the socket angle, the more inclined the socket. This determines whether a shovel or spade is designed for stabbing or scooping. The socket angle is measured from the ground to the socket, when the blade lies flat on the ground.

Straight: the handle stands virtually straight on the blade
1/4: the socket is bent up 35 mm, for example for digging shovels
1/2: the socket is bent up 55 mm, for example for scoop shovels and concrete shovels
3/4: the socket is bent up 70 cm, for example in scoop shovels and deep shovels

Explanation of blade width
In the past there were blade widths that ran from number 2 down to 0, with 2 being the largest. Over time the blades had to be made smaller due to working conditions and smaller sizing systems were introduced.
