Digging shovel RUHR BRILLANT 1/4 000 polished, with ATLAS shovel handle 110 cm bent

Digging shovel RURH BRILLANT, Drents model with socket setting 1/4 bent and blade size 000, complete with a bent ATLAS shovel handle 110 cm long, fitted with a through-mount T-grip. The polished blade is hardened and has a sharp cutting edge.

The ash wood ATLAS shovel handle is made from ash under-stems, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood has been re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. As a result, the handle does not shrink, tools remain firmly attached to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or staples. ATLAS handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain in the handle to bend along and prevents the grain from running out of the handle. The bending process makes the handle extremely strong. In addition, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba which ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, preventing blisters.

Explanation of socket angle
Socket angle indicates the angle relative to the blade. The higher the socket angle, the more slanted the socket. This determines whether a spade or shovel is designed for digging or scooping. The socket angle is measured from the ground to the socket when the blade lies flat on the ground.

Straight: the handle stands almost straight on the blade
1/4: the socket is bent up 35 mm, for example for digging shovels
1/2: the socket is bent up 55 mm, for example for scoop shovels and concrete shovels
3/4: the socket is bent up 70 cm, for example with scoop shovels and deep shovels

Explanation of blade width
In the past there were blade widths that ran from number 2 down to 0, with 2 being the largest. Over time the blades had to be made smaller because of working conditions, and smaller size specifications were introduced.
