A push pole is also known as a punting pole, boat pole, or skipper’s pole and is used for punting. This is the term for propelling a small barge or boat forward.

ATLAS push poles are made from ash roots, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-resistant, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of this re-drying, the handle does not shrink, tools remain firmly fixed to the handle, and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.

Next, the push pole is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and helps it retain its beautiful natural color. Waxing ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
