Pickaxe handle ATLAS 90 cm round, head size 50 mm

Pickaxe handle or piochesteel ATLAS round made of ash wood, with head size 50 mm and length 90 cm. Suitable for pickaxes with a round eye. No pin or wedge is needed to mount this tapered handle.

ATLAS pickaxe handles are made from ash rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the re-drying, the handle does not shrink and the tool stays firmly attached to the handle.

The ATLAS handle is then waxed with the plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and helps it retain its beautiful light color. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, which helps prevent blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
