Pickaxe handle ATLAS 90 cm oval, head size 50 x 80 mm

Pickaxe handle or adze handle ATLAS made of ash wood, with head dimensions of 80 x 50 mm and a length of 90 cm. Suitable for pickaxes with a pointed oval eye. Because of the oval shape of the handle, the pickaxe always sits in the correct striking direction. No pin or wedge is needed to mount this tapered handle.

ATLAS pickaxe handles are made from ash root stocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is redried in a climate-controlled chamber by computer. Because of the redrying, the handle does not shrink and tools stay firmly attached to the handle.

The ATLAS handle is then waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and preserves its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. In addition, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.

ATLAS pickaxe handles are manufactured entirely carbon-neutrally in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
