This ditch scythe is also known as a heath scythe. This model is ideal for mowing and cutting out reeds, grass, and shoots on slopes, banks, and wet hay meadows. The blade socket of this scythe sits flatter (large tang angle) than that of a standard scythe. This helps maintain the proper mowing angle underwater while you stand on the bank. Because of its 45 cm width, the Zwei Rinder ditch scythe is ideal for winding banks or rougher terrain.

The ditch scythe is often mounted to a bent shovel handle for a comfortable working angle. By combining the ditch scythe with a long pole or ditch hook handle, reeds and other vegetation can be cut far into the water. Long poles and ditch hook handles are available in various lengths.
