Pickaxe handle ATLAS hickory 90 cm oval, head 50 x 80 mm

Pickaxe handle or piochesteel ATLAS made of hickory wood, with head dimensions 80 x 50 mm and a length of 90 cm. Because of the tapered oval shape of the handle the pickaxe head is always in the correct striking orientation. No pins or wedges are needed for mounting this handle.

Hickory is a heavy and hard American wood species that is even stronger than ash wood. Hickory wood is particularly tough, shock-resistant and resilient. The ATLAS hickory handle is also waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its attractive natural pale color. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, helping to prevent blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
