ATLAS ash wood handle with tapered end, 160 cm long and 3.5 cm in diameter. This extra thick, strong handle is suitable for heavy-duty use and fits galvanized draw hoes, as well as many other tools.

ATLAS draw hoes handles are made from ash wood rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the re-drying, the handle does not shrink and the tool stays firmly attached to the handle.

The ATLAS draw hoes handles are then bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain in the handle to bend along with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a runout grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.

Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves its beautiful natural color. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. In addition, the plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
