Shovel handle ATLAS made of ash wood, bent T-handle in a length of 90 cm, with a strong through-mount T-grip. A shovel handle is often used together with a digging shovel, concrete shovel, scoop shovel, or a cable shovel.ATLAS shovel handles are made from ash tree trunks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is returned to a controlled drying chamber and computer-regulated dried back. Because of this drying-back process, the handle does not shrink, the tool stays firmly attached to the handle, and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.Next, the ATLAS shovel handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain in the handle to bend along with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong. Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and helps it retain its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. In addition, waxing handles with plant-based wax is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.ATLAS shovel handles are manufactured completely energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
