The handle of the ATLAS engineer's hammer is made of hickory. Hickory is a heavy, hard American wood species that is even stronger than ash wood. Hickory is particularly tough, shock-resistant and resilient. The ATLAS hickory handle is also waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves the beautiful natural color. Because of the oval shape of the handle, the hammer head always sits in the correct striking orientation.
