The handle of the ATLAS engineer's hammer is made of hickory wood. Hickory is a heavy, hard American wood species that is even stronger than ash wood. Hickory wood is exceptionally tough, shock-resistant and resilient. The ATLAS hickory handle is also waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its attractive natural color. Because of the handle's oval shape, the hammer head is always in the correct striking orientation.
