This strong forged spade is also called a trenching spade or drainage spade. The spade is ideal for digging a narrow trench for, for example, underground cable, irrigation, or drainage. Thanks to the slightly pointed blade, the spade easily penetrates the soil. Because of the blade’s length, the trench can easily be made deep enough so that cables and pipes lie at a safe depth.

The blade has a sharp polished edge. This means less resistance while digging and less soil sticking to the blade. The large round step prevents damage to footwear while digging. Because of the round shape of the step, it does not catch on anything.

The ATLAS spade handle is made from ash wood rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood has been computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. As a result, the handle does not shrink and the tool stays firmly attached to the handle.
