Spade handle ATLAS 80 cm not milled end, with T-grip, for S&J spade

ATLAS spade handle of ash wood, length 80 cm, fitted with a T-grip and a smooth, narrow point, including suitability for a Spear & Jackson spade with a lip. This handle has the same length as the original Spear & Jackson spade handle. For assembly a 50 mm rivet is recommended (article number 651620, including assembly advice).

ATLAS spade handles are made from the lower trunks of ash trees, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-resistant and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a computer-controlled climate chamber. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink and tools remain firmly fixed to the handle.

Subsequently the ATLAS handles are waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural colour. Waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasant, smooth handle, which prevents blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than the use of varnish or paraffin.

ATLAS spade handles are manufactured entirely energy-neutrally in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
