The polished blade is hardened, has a sharp cutting edge, and a flat underside. A screeding shovel is also known as a sand shovel.

Thanks to the combination of this blade with the extra double bent ATLAS handle, the handle rises nicely high, while the blade stays neatly flat on the ground or in the sand bed. The ATLAS Blijham shovel handle is made from ash wood rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. As a result, the handle does not shrink, tools stay firmly attached to the handle, and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple. In addition, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba, which ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters.
