The hardened steel head is smoothly polished and fitted with a sharp cutting edge. The wedge-shaped head with tapered polished cheeks ensures that the wood splits easily and greatly reduces the chance of jamming.
The ergonomically shaped handle has a comfortable grip and a secure hold thanks to the non-slip grip on the underside. The handle is made of ash wood; this wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong.
