Moles first create a so-called ring run around the plot. The mole continues to use this run to move around. From the ring run the mole makes tunnels in different directions, allowing it to go further into the plot. The mole will use these tunnels regularly, so this is a suitable place to set a mole trap. To check whether a tunnel is in use, press it closed and check the next day to see whether the mole has reopened it.

Place the mole trap in a straight section of tunnel, if possible as close as possible to the ring tunnel. Are the tunnels too deep? Then place the trap in the ring tunnel.

Carefully open the tunnel and then remove all loose soil. Place the mole trap in the opening and check whether it can close easily. Then set the mole trap and place it in the tunnel. If desired, test whether the mole trap can close easily.

Always place the tensioned clamp with the adjusting pin at the top, slanted in the run so that the adjusting plate is at an angle of about 135 degrees. Seal the opening by sprinkling some loose soil around the clamp and cover the whole with, for example, pieces of turf or leaves.

Check the mole trap daily! Remove any captured mole as quickly as possible and always put the trap back in place immediately. This is because the tunnels are often used by multiple moles. Still haven't caught a mole after three days? Then the tunnel is almost certainly no longer in use. Check other tunnels for activity and move the trap to a tunnel that is still being visited. After use, always clean the mole trap thoroughly with a stiff brush and store it in a dry place.

Moles have a very keen sense of smell, so it is advisable to wear gloves when handling and placing mole traps. Generally, a plot contains a maximum of 15 moles per hectare. In some cases this can even rise to 25 to 30 moles.
