The aluminium blade is extra hardened by the addition of manganese, which prevents premature wear on the underside and sides. In addition, the grain shovel is fitted with a sturdy aluminium wear strip, which reduces wear on the leading edge of the blade.

ATLAS grain shovels are very strong, lightweight and ideal for scooping large, light volumes.

ATLAS bat handles are made from ash wood rootstocks, which contain the best timber. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbent and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink, and the tool remains firmly fixed to the handle.

Then the ATLAS bat handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibre in the handle to bend with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running-out grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.

Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with the plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its beautiful natural color.
