Axe handle ATLAS made of ash wood, with head size 64 x 22 mm and length 60 cm. This bent handle is suitable for an axe weighing 1000 or 1250 grams. For mounting the handle, the axe wedge set with article number 651810 is recommended (wooden wedge 45 x 60 mm and 2 metal wedges no. 2 16 mm).

ATLAS axe handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled kiln-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the secondary drying, the handle does not shrink and the axe head stays firmly attached to the handle.

The ATLAS handle is then waxed with plant-based carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves its beautiful light color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. In addition, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
