Scoop shovel ATLAS DIAMANT Dutch model with socket angle 3/4 bent up and blade size 1, complete with a strongly bent ATLAS gooseneck shovel handle 100 cm long. The blue lacquered blade is hardened and has a polished, sharp edge.

The ash wood ATLAS gooseneck shovel handle is made from the lower trunks of ash trees, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood has been re-dried in a climate-controlled chamber under computer control. As a result the handle does not shrink, tools remain firmly fixed to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple. In addition the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba wax, which ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, preventing blisters.

Explanation of socket angle
The socket angle indicates the angle relative to the blade. The higher the socket angle, the more slanted the socket is. This determines whether a spade or scoop shovel is designed for thrusting (for digging) or for scooping. The socket angle is measured from the ground to the socket when the blade lies flat on the ground.

Straight: the handle is almost straight with the blade
1/4: the socket is bent up 35 mm, for example for digging shovels
1/2: the socket is bent up 55 mm, for example for scoop shovels and concrete shovels
3/4: the socket is bent up 70 cm, for example with scoop shovels and deep shovels

Explanation of blade width
In the past there were blade widths that ran from number 2 down to 0, with 2 being the largest. Over time the blades had to be made smaller due to working conditions and smaller sizes were introduced.
