Scythes sharpening stone straight 25.5 cm, coarse grit
Scythes whetstone rectangular model. Coarse stone. Suitable for sharpening scythes, shovels and spades. A whetstone, which is moistened beforehand or kept wet, is placed perpendicular to the top side of the scythe blade and then pulled or pushed across the cutting edge, either in a straight motion or by turning the wrist toward the tip of the blade. This motion is repeated from the widest side to the tip. Then the blade is turned over and that motion is repeated on the underside Ð the convex, shiny side Ð but more gently.
