Spade handle ATLAS 90 cm not milled end, with through-mount T-grip, for S&J spade

Spade handle ATLAS of ash wood in length 90 cm, provided with a strong through-mount T-grip and a smooth, narrow point, among others suitable for a Spear & Jackson spade with lip. This handle is 10 cm longer than the original Spear & Jackson spade handle. For mounting a 50 mm rivet is advised (article number 651620, including mounting advice).

ATLAS spade handles are made from ash wood rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-resistant and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink, tool heads remain firmly attached to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.

Subsequently the ATLAS handles are waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural light color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
