Spade handle ATLAS 110 cm milled end, with through-mount T-grip, for S&J spade, FSC 100%

ATLAS spade handle made of ash wood, 110 cm long, equipped with a strong through-mount T-grip and a milled-in, smooth, narrow point, suitable for a Spear & Jackson spade or ATLAS gooseneck spade. This handle is 25 cm longer than the original Spear & Jackson spade handle. For assembly, a 40 mm rivet is recommended (item number 651590, including assembly advice).

ATLAS spade handles are made from ash tree rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-resistant, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of this re-drying, the handle does not shrink, the tool stays firmly attached to the handle, and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.

The ATLAS handles are then waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and helps preserve its beautiful natural color. The waxing ensures a longer lifespan and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
