Shovel handle ATLAS 85 cm bent, with through-mount T-grip
Shovel handle ATLAS made of ash wood, bent T-handle with a length of 85 cm, with strong through-mount T-grip. A shovel handle is often used together with a digging shovel, concrete shovel, scoop shovel, or a cable shovel.
ATLAS shovel handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. Due to the re-drying the handle does not shrink, tools stay solidly attached to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.
Then the ATLAS shovel handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fiber in the handle to bend along and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running-out grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally the ATLAS handle is waxed with the plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, which helps prevent blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS shovel handles are manufactured completely energy-neutrally in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
