Shovel handle ATLAS 130 cm extra strongly bent, with through-mount T-grip

ATLAS shovel handle of ash wood, extra-strong bent T-handle 130 cm in length, with a strong through-mount T-grip. An extra-bent shovel handle is often used together with a digging shovel, concrete shovel, scoop shovel, or cable shovel.

ATLAS shovel handles are made from ash trunk sections, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink, tools stay firmly attached to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.

Next the ATLAS shovel handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain to bend with the handle and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running-out grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.

Finally the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba wax. This ensures the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its nice natural color. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than the use of varnish or paraffin.
