Shovel handle ATLAS 120 cm extra-strong, bent, with through-mount T-grip
ATLAS shovel handle of ash wood, extra-strongly bent T-handle, 120 cm long, with a strong through-mount T-grip. An extra-bent shovel handle is often used together with a digging shovel, concrete shovel, scoop shovel, or a cable shovel.
ATLAS shovel handles are made from ash wood under-stems, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. By re-drying the handle does not shrink, tools remain firmly fixed to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.
Next the ATLAS shovel handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibre in the handle to bend along and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running-out grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural colour. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS shovel handles are manufactured completely energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
