Splitting axe handle ATLAS 85 cm bent, head size 62 x 28 mm

ATLAS splitting axe handle made of ash wood, with head size 62 x 28 mm and length 85 cm. This handle is suitable for the ADLER 2800 gram splitting axe (article number 951380) and the ADLER 2000 gram splitting axe (article number 951390). For mounting the handle the axe wedge set with article number 651815 is recommended (wooden wedge 70 x 80 mm and 2 metal wedges no. 4, 22 mm).

ATLAS axe handles are made from ash trunk sections, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber controlled by computer. By re-drying the handle does not shrink and the axe head remains firmly fixed to the handle.

Next the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its attractive natural colour. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
