The aluminium blade is extra hardened by the addition of manganese, which prevents premature wear on the underside and sides. OFFNER grain shovels are very strong, lightweight and ideal for scooping large, light volumes.
ATLAS PD-handles are made from ash wood rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes. By re-drying the handle does not shrink, and the tool remains firmly attached to the handle.
Next, the ATLAS PD handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibers in the handle to bend with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running-out grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
As a final step, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based carnauba wax. This ensures the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its beautiful natural color.
