Forged clay spade Betuwe model. Polished, forged, hollow-ground and fitted with a strong ATLAS T-handle with a length of 100 cm. This clay spade Betuwe model is forged from a single block of iron, smoothly polished and has a characteristic sharp hollow edge. The hollow edge makes it possible to cut out soil very precisely or to spade. Because of the former Merkus smithy in Elst, this product is still mainly sold in the Betuwe and surrounding area. Atlas handles are made of ash wood, are bent in boiling water (these are extra strong because the grain follows the curve), are mirror-smooth waxed (prevents blisters), climate-chamber dried (handle does not shrink and the tool head stays secure). All these advantages make this spade with Atlas handle a true jewel to work with. Also available with a shorter handle (art. no. 810120).
