Splitting maul handle ATLAS 90 cm, head size 60 x 35 mm, for Ochsenkopf splitting axe

Splitting maul handle or splitting axe handle ATLAS made of ash wood, with head size 60 x 35 mm and length 90 cm, suitable for Ochsenkopf splitting axes. Because of the oval shape of the handle the axe head is always in the correct striking orientation. For mounting the handle the axe wedge set with article number 651815 is recommended (wooden wedge 70 x 80 mm and 2 metal wedges No.4 22 mm).

ATLAS splitting maul handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process the sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink and the axe head remains firmly fixed to the handle.

Next the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
