Grain shovel handle ATLAS 130 cm bent, for Swedish model (790125)
Grain shovel handle ATLAS of ash wood, bent handle in length 130 cm. This handle is intended for the grain shovel Swedish model with article number 790125.
ATLAS grain shovel handles are made from ash butt sections, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. Re-drying prevents the handle from shrinking and keeps the tool firmly attached to the handle.
Next the ATLAS shovel handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fiber in the handle to bend along and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a run-out grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt and preserves the beautiful light natural color. Waxing ensures a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, which helps prevent blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS grain shovel handles are manufactured entirely energy-neutral in the Netherlands.
