Axe handle ATLAS 110 cm straight, head size 76 x 32 mm, with long head (tapered)

ATLAS straight axe handle made from ash wood, with eye size 76 x 32 mm and length 110 cm. This extra-long axe handle is suitable for heavy forged axes. For mounting the handle the axe wedge set with article number 651815 is recommended (wooden wedge 70 x 80 mm and 2 metal wedges no.4 22 mm).

ATLAS axe handles are made from ash butt logs, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process the sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink and the axe head remains firmly fixed to the handle.

Next the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its attractive natural colour. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than the use of varnish or paraffin.
