What began in 1814 as André Kooijmans’ basket-making workshop in Schijndel grew into a family business that has passed down craftsmanship for generations. From handcrafted tools to modern production with character — our story is present in every detail.
Kooijmans Quality Tools is known for the production and trade of professional tools. Our family history dates back to 1814, when André Kooijmans moved with his family to Schijndel. Basket weaving became a skilled craft in the 19th century, driven by the rise of potato farming. Around 1814, it took place on the yard next to André Kooijmans’ home. On the left in the image you can see the house and office, and on the right, the basket-making workshop.

Four generations later, A.H. (Toon) Kooijmans was born. In 1922, he began producing wooden tool handles, and the company was officially registered with the Chamber of Commerce.
Shortly after the Second World War, the range expanded to include wooden hay rakes and simple poles. In the image, you see Toon Kooijmans with 10 employees.
After more than 165 years, the business had outgrown its space. In 1975, Harrie and André Kooijmans decided to build a new facility on the Duin industrial estate in Schijndel. The big move took place in 1976.
When the neighboring company at Duinweg 9 closed, Martien Kooijmans purchased two cadastral plots. This became a new 2,500 m² warehouse, including a 1,000 m² basement.
Today, the entire family — Martien, Tonnie, Tijn, and Tineke Kooijmans — works in the business. A remarkable milestone, as the company is now in its seventh generation.
