The aluminium blade is extra hardened by the addition of manganese, which prevents premature wear on the underside and sides. In addition, the grain shovel is fitted with a sturdy aluminium wear strip, resulting in less wear on the front of the blade.
ATLAS grain shovels are very strong, lightweight and ideal for scooping up large volumes of lightweight material.
ATLAS YD-handles are made from ash rootstocks; these contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink, and the tool remains firmly attached to the handle.
Then the ATLAS YD-handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fiber in the handle to bend with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a grain that runs out is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its beautiful natural colour.
