Ragwort fork SPEAR & JACKSON 4 tines with T-handle and sliding mechanism
SPEAR & JACKSON ragwort fork with 4 tines and sliding mechanism.
Ragwort fork or Ragfork SPEAR & JACKSON of steel with 4 tines, straight step, T-handle and sliding mechanism, blue powder-coated, total length 102 cm.
This fork is perfect for removing ragwort. Also suitable for digging out other root weeds such as dandelion, sorrel or thistles.
The sliding mechanism easily pushes the protruding plant off the tines. By moving the sleeve at the bottom of the handle downward, the plate slides over the tines. Thanks to the flat top of the step, footwear is not damaged and the user can apply extra force with the foot.
The wide T-handle is fitted with comfortable non-slip grips that provide a good, secure hold. By operating the fork with both hands, uprooting takes relatively little effort. Be cautious with heavier soil types such as clay or compacted soils.
Why remove ragwort with the SPEAR & JACKSON ragwort fork?
Common ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris subsp. vulgaris) is an herbaceous plant that is toxic in certain quantities to cattle, goats and horses (sheep are resistant to it). Eating the plant can lead to severe health consequences or death of animals within a few days. Since this plant is fairly common in the Netherlands, it is important that common ragwort be removed as much as possible.
By consistently removing common ragwort, illnesses in animals are prevented and its spread is curtailed.
Check carefully before removing that you are removing the correct vegetation. It is sometimes mistaken for other plants such as Jacobskruid (ragwort), Boerenwormkruid (tansy) or Groot Streepzaad.
