The sturdy blade of this grain shovel is entirely made of plastic. Therefore it hardly scratches the surface and makes less noise than an aluminium or steel version. The plastic ATLAS grain shovel is ideal for scooping large volumes of light material such as snow, feed or garden waste.
The plastic ATLAS grain shovel is also available with an ATLAS plastic D-handle of 95 cm, with a fully plastic handle, and without a handle.
ATLAS shovel handles are made from ash wood rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink, and tools remain firmly fixed to the handle.
Next, the ATLAS bat handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibre in the handle to bend as well and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a grain that runs out is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its beautiful natural color.
