Bats Drents model with flat bent step and Atlas shovel handle, 110 cm long.

Digging shovel ATLAS DIAMANT, Drents model with socket position 1/4 bent and blade size 000, complete with a bent ATLAS shovel handle 110 cm long, fitted with a through-mount T-grip.

The bright polished blade is hardened, has a sharp cutting edge and is fitted with a flat bent step. Thanks to the step, footwear is not damaged.

The ATLAS shovel handle is made from the lower trunks of ash trees, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood has been re-dried in a computer-controlled climate chamber. As a result, the handle does not shrink, tools remain firmly attached to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.

ATLAS handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fiber in the handle to bend with it and prevents the grain from coming out of the handle. The bending process makes the handle extremely strong. In addition, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based carnauba wax, which ensures a longer service life and a pleasant, smooth handle, preventing blisters.

Explanation of socket position
The socket angle indicates the angle of the socket relative to the blade. The higher the socket angle, the more slanted the socket. This determines whether a shovel or spade is designed for thrusting into the ground or for scooping. The socket angle is measured from the ground up to the socket, with the blade lying flat on the ground.
Straight: the handle is almost perfectly straight relative to the blade.
1/4: the socket is bent 35 mm, for example for digging shovels
1/2: the socket is bent up 55 mm, for example for scoop shovels and concrete shovels
3/4: the socket is bent up 70 cm, for example on scoop shovels and deep shovels

Explanation of blade width
In the past there were blade widths that ranged from number 2 down to 0, with 2 being the largest. Over time the blades had to be made smaller because of working conditions, and smaller sizes were introduced.

The blade sizes for shovels and spades are from large to small: 2 – 1 – 0 – 00 – 000
