Schaufelstiel ATLAS Esche Dampfgebogen, Länge 130 cm
The ash wood of this Atlas shovel handle is tough, shock-absorbing and strong.
Shovel handle ATLAS of ash wood, bent model in length 130 cm. A shovel handle is often used together with a concrete shovel, scoop shovel, stable shovel or a cable shovel. Length 130 cm is by far the most requested length and is widely used by, among others, the infrastructure sector and cable installers.
ATLAS shovel handles are made from ash wood rootstocks, where the best wood is found. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber, computer-controlled. Because of the re-drying, tools remain firmly fixed to the handle.
An Atlas shovel handle of ash wood is bent in boiling water.
Subsequently, the ATLAS shovel handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibre in the handle to bend with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally, the ATLAS shovel handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba wax. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasantly smooth handle, which prevents blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS shovel handles are manufactured entirely energy-neutrally in the Netherlands and are available in different lengths and models.
