ATLAS straight axe handle made of ash wood, with head size 70 x 28 mm and length 90 cm. This straight handle is suitable for an axe weighing 2000 grams. For mounting the handle the axe wedge set with article number 651815 is recommended (wooden wedge 70 x 80 mm and 2 metal wedges no.4 22 mm).

ATLAS axe handles are made from the lower trunks of ash wood, which contain the best timber. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process the sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. By re-drying the handle does not shrink and the axe head remains firmly attached to the handle.

Subsequently the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its attractive natural color. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than the use of varnish or paraffin.
