ATLAS DIAMANT Flachrandschaufel extra gehärtet, POLIERT, ½ OOO
Paving spade or flat spade ATLAS DIAMANT with socket position 1/2 bent up and blade size 000, is supplied without handle. The bright polished blade is hardened and has a sharp cutting edge.
This flat shovel, also called a sand shovel, is best combined with a double-bent gooseneck shovel handle. Because of the 1/2 upward-bent socket angle in combination with blade width 000, the flat shovel is an exception to all other shovels. This model is ideal for pavers.
Explanation of socket angle
The socket angle indicates the angle relative to the blade. The higher the socket angle, the more slanted the socket. This determines whether a shovel is designed for digging or scooping (digging shovel / scoop shovel). The socket angle is measured from the ground to the socket, when the blade lies flat on the ground.
Straight: the handle stands almost straight on the blade
1/4: the socket is bent up 35 mm, for example for digging shovels (steekbats)
1/2: the socket is bent up 55 mm, for example for scoop shovels (schepbats) and concrete shovels (betonschop)
3/4: the socket is bent up 70 cm, for example with scoop shovels and deep shovels
Explanation of blade width
In the past there were blade widths running from number 2 down to 0, with 2 being the largest. Over time the blades had to be made smaller because of working conditions, and smaller sizes were introduced.
The blade sizes for shovels and spades are from large to small: 2 – 1 – 0 – 00 – 000
