T-Stiel ATLAS Esche Dampfgebogen, Länge 110 cm
An Atlas shovel handle made of ash wood is bent in boiling water.
Shovel handle ATLAS of ash wood, bent T-handle in length 110 cm, with a strong through-mount T-grip. A shovel handle is often used together with a digging shovel, concrete shovel, scoop shovel, or a cable shovel. A length of 110 cm is by far the most requested length.
ATLAS shovel handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash boards are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. By re-drying, the handle does not shrink, tools remain firmly fixed to the handle, and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or staples.
Next, the ATLAS shovel handles are bent in boiling water. This makes the wood grain or fiber in the handle bend with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running-out grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Comfortably smooth handle due to plant-based waxing
Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba wax. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves the beautiful natural color. The waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping to prevent blisters. In addition, waxing handles with a plant-based wax is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS shovel handles are manufactured completely energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and configurations.
