The Frankfurter shovel is in high demand on the German market and is widely used by gardeners and in ground, road or water construction. Because of its shape this shovel is suitable for digging in firm and stony soils. Thanks to the polished cutting edge the shovel moves smoothly through the ground and releases the scooped material easily. Thanks to the raised back the scooped material stays well on the blade.

The ASH ATLAS shovel handle is made from ash rootstocks; this contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood has been re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. As a result the handle does not shrink, tools remain firmly attached to the handle, and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple. In addition, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based carnauba wax, which provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, preventing blisters.

Explanation of socket angle
The socket angle indicates the angle relative to the blade. The higher the socket angle, the more inclined the socket is. This determines whether a shovel or spade is designed for thrusting or scooping. The socket angle is measured from the ground to the socket when the blade lies flat on the ground.

Straight: the handle is almost straight on the blade
1/4: the socket is bent up 35 mm, for example for digging shovels
1/2: the socket is bent up 55 mm, for example for scoop shovels and concrete shovels
3/4: the socket is bent up 70 cm, for example with scoop shovels and deep shovels
