Scoop shovel ATLAS DIAMANT Dutch model with socket angle 3/4 bent and blade size 1, delivered complete with ATLAS shovel handle 130 cm in length. The hardened blade is blue lacquered and has a bright polished, sharp cutting edge.

The ash wood ATLAS shovel handle is made from the lower trunks of ash, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood has been re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. As a result the handle does not shrink, tools remain locked firmly to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple. ATLAS handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain in the handle to follow the bend and prevents the grain from running out of the handle. The bending process makes the handle extremely strong. In addition the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba which ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, preventing blisters.



Explanation socket angle
The socket angle indicates the angle relative to the blade. The higher the socket angle, the more angled the socket is. This determines whether a spade or shovel is designed for stabbing (digging) or for scooping. The socket angle is measured from the ground to the socket when the blade lies flat on the ground.

Straight: the handle is almost straight in line with the blade
1/4: the socket is bent up 35 mm, for example for digging shovels
1/2: the socket is bent up 55 mm, for example for scoop shovels and concrete shovels
3/4: the socket is bent up 70 cm, for example on scoop shovels and deep shovels

Explanation blade width
In the past there were blade widths that ran from number 2 down to 0, with 2 being the largest. Over time blades had to be made smaller due to working conditions and smaller size standards were introduced.
