The ash wood ATLAS shovel handle is made from ash trunk sections, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. This prevents the handle from shrinking, keeps the tool firmly attached to the handle and allows the through-mount T-grip to be pressed onto the handle without glue or staples. ATLAS handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain to follow the bend and prevents the grain from running out of the handle. The bending process makes the handle extremely strong. In addition, the ATLAS handle is waxed with the vegetable Carnauba, which ensures a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters.



Explanation of socket angle
The socket angle indicates the angle relative to the blade. The higher the socket angle, the more slanted the socket. This determines whether a spade or shovel is designed for stabbing or scooping. The socket angle is measured from the ground to the socket when the blade lies flat on the ground.

Straight: the handle stands almost straight on the blade
1/4: the socket is 35 mm bent up, for example for digging shovels
1/2: the socket is 55 mm bent up, for example for scoop shovels and concrete shovels
3/4: the socket is 70 cm bent up, for example with scoop shovels and deep shovels

Explanation blade width
In the past there were blade widths that ran from number 2 to 0, where 2 is the largest. Over time the blades had to become smaller due to working conditions and smaller sizes were introduced.
