Hammer wedges are used to mount the hammer handle in striking tools. The hammer wedge is tapered and has two tapered ridges (3D) on each flat side. This makes it easy to drive the wedge firmly into the handle. Because the wedge becomes progressively thicker toward the top, the handle expands and clamps the hammer head so the hammer head cannot come loose. 3D tapered hammer wedges are available in various sizes and in round tapered model. Depending on the head size of the handle, the correct size wedge should be chosen.
